Almost Back
Well, I have been mostly sick for a while now, main reason for no new posts. Normally I have an iron constitution, however I breathed in some fiberglass instillation and pushing my body and dry desert air equals some nasty crazy congestion and stuff. It was really bad, but its decreasing now and I am almost back to my self again. I will soon be posting some images and other things.

Industrial Lighting Magic [link]
Adam Chilson, instructor [link]
April 26, 2008 - 10am-7pm
Featured Model is SCAR! [link]
Our first workshop with Adam on March 29th SOLD OUT - so we are following up and now accepting registrations for “Industrial Lighting Magic,” the second in the series.
Images from their first workshop can be found here [link]
“Industrial Lighting Magic” is an intermediate to advanced workshop, focusing on the theme of crafting and lighting metal-based industrial sets. Adam will be bringing to the workshop a number of metal components specifically featured in his portfolio images. Participants will gain insight into the physical components involved in creating sets in this style, as well as learning principles of effective photographic lighting for the industrial/metal theme.
Topics covered will include:
**The basics of lighting metal: Utilizing inherent reflective qualities, avoiding pitfalls, and minimizing hot spots.
**Capturing the textures of metal: Including diamond plate, flat steel, chains, expanded steel, and perforated metal.
**The “mood” of metal: From bright and shining to rust and grunge, and use of gels to color metal.
**Crafting metal sets: The use of metal components both as backgrounds and as means of generating shadows.
**Lighting a model in the set, both separately and integrated with metal set elements.
The first part of the day will cover discussion and demonstration. The second part of the day will consist of shooting opportunities for all participants with the featured model (TBA) on set. Registration includes promotional model release for portfolio use of images shot at the workshop.
Registration is limited to 8 photographers. Fee is $350 for the full day, and must be paid in advance. For complete workshop details and registration information, please visit the workshop web site [link] and/or contact the studio at 866-334-4364, or email studio@dm-gremlin.com.
